Hopkinton Schools Closed As Wind Damage Cuts Power
About 10 percent of Eversource customers in town were without power as of 9 a.m.

HOPKINTON, MA — Chalk up Tuesday to a "wind day" for Hopkinton students. Five schools in the town canceled class after heavy wind downed power lines, cutting power for hundreds.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said nearly 700 customers - about 10 percent of the Eversource customers in town - were without power as of 9 a.m.
There were about 4,000 power customers without power across the state. There were no injuries reported, and Hopkinton was the only school cancellation reported.

A wind advisory is in effect along the coast, and the rest of the state is under a hazardous weather outlook. Weather officials were warning of wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
