Hopkinton's Bittersweet Co. Closes Permanently
"The reality is I cannot sustain the losses anymore and there is no amount of recovery help that would come near what we need."
HOPKINTON, MA — Bittersweet Co., a Hopkinton cafe and wine bar, announced it would close its doors permanently Wednesday.
“Many thanks to those loyal customers who helped me thru!” owner CJ Dunne wrote in a Facebook post. “The reality is I cannot sustain the losses anymore and there is no amount of recovery help that would come near what we need.”
Bittersweet Co.’s menu ranged from espresso to whipped sangria, scones to lasagna. Dunne wrote in his post that he hopes his customers will find another small business to support. Bittersweet Co. has plenty of company — 20 percent of restaurants had reportedly closed as of September 2020 due to the pandemic, according to the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.
