Obituaries: Ira W. Leighton Jr., Kathryn M. Phelan

Ira W. Leighton Jr., 67, of Holliston, passed away in Arlington, Virginia; while away on business, on Friday, July 26, 2013. He was the son of the late Mary (Caloggero) and Ira W. Leighton Sr. He was the husband of 40 years to the late Maureen (Kane) Leighton who passed in October 2008. Ira was innovative, practical, and results-oriented and as a result he improved the quality of life for every New Englander. 

Kathryn M. (Murphy) Phelan, 65, of Holliston, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Newton Wellesley Hospital. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Kathryn (Casey) and John “Jack” Murphy and was also predeceased by two aunts, Mary and Helen Casey, all of whom resided in the “Mudville” section of Holliston. Kathy was a member of the National Honor Society with the Holliston High School graduating class of 1965.
