Timlin Race Organizers Saddened by Gov. Cellucci's Death
The annual Sharon Timlin 5K raises money to research ALS, the disease which took Paul Cellucci's life.

After five years of battling ALS publicly and privately former Gov. Paul Cellucci died from the disease over the weekend.
The former governor's death comes just one week before Hopkinton's annual Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Road Race, which raises money for ALS research.
"The Timlin Event Committee is very saddened to hear about his passing and it reminds us of the importance of our work. It is so painful to witness the suffering of the families that are living with the pain that ALS brings, day in and day out," Sharon Timlin Event Director Abbie Rosenberg said in an email.

The Timlin race and family day, scheduled for June 15, raise money to support ALS research, and organizers went on a lab tour with Cellucci recently.
"Paul Cellucci was very invested in finding a cure for ALS and attended a lab tour with our group of fundraisers in an effort to support Dr. Robert Brown's research at UMASS Medical School," Rosenberg said.
