3 Empty Storefronts In JP About To Get A Makeover

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — There's been a lot of movement in JP when it comes to new businesses and restaurants recently; MooYah came, La Rana Rosa left, Espresso Yourself popped up. Still there are some store fronts that sit empty for a long time (Caffe Aromi, we're looking at you). No matter how long a storefront sits empty, it's exciting when someone new finally moves in.

Here's the scoop on three empty storefronts that are in the process of getting a makeover.

1. It was once a Tedeschi on the corner of Eliot and Centre. It's now going to be a high end gym called REPS.

Renvil Doman opened the original REPS Fitness Studio in 2011 in the Beacon Hill and since, he's expanded to the Back Bay and now JP he also opened Beacon Hill Yoga in 2015. According to the website, it's slated to open this Fall. In addition to personal training REPS will be open seven days a week with a full class schedule––including his trade marked REPSCYCLE and KORECYCLE spin classes.

2. It's been a while since the Harvest Coop on South Street mostly transformed into a day care. Now there's something called Juicy Greens Boston slated to open in the corner that was once home to the bread and cheese and snacks section of Harvest.

Part juice bar, coffee shop and health food cafe, it's also slated to open this fall. Ammy Lowney, a former Boston Public Schools teacher, and her husband Mike Lowney, a primary care physician in Hyde Park hatched the idea. On the menu? Cold-pressed juices, which will also be part of the juice bar’s “cleanse” menu. They also will have vegetarian and gluten friendly stuff to "nourish, heal and energize," such as smoothies, salads, buddha bowls, acai bowls, and coffee from local roasters.

3. Goodbye, Mission Realty Advisors. Hello expanded Ignite fitness.

The old Realty Advisors at 344 Centre Street next to Ignite Fitness is getting a paint job and some fitness equipment put in. We haven't confirmed it yet, but the colors look suspiciously like the orange and yellow at Ignite Fitness right next door.
