Boston Gets Most Rain In 82 Years; Sunny Skies Ahead
Boston broke an 82-year-old rainfall record this week but sunny skies return today.
BOSTON — If you noticed the Muddy River and Jamaica Pond were a bit high, that's because Boston got 2.3 inches of rain on Monday — breaking the single-day record of 1.89 inches set in 1937. Monday's heavy rains brought plenty of puddles and damaged a roof of a triple-decker in Jamaica Plain and a home in West Roxbury, prompting an evacuation and displacing residents, according to the Red Cross.
But take heart: the sun returns Wednesday afternoon, which will see highs near 63 degrees. Thursday will be similar, according to the National Weather Service. Rain moves in again Friday night into Saturday. The sun returns Sunday, which will feature highs in the 60s.
