Brandy The Pitt Bull Needs A Home- Again
Remember the lovable dog Brandy who spent nearly a year at the MSPCA? She's back because the landlord told her new owner 'no Pitt Bulls.'
JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — If there was ever a need for a Prince Charming to swoop in to help a princess, that need is now—and that princess is Brandy the Pit Bull.
Last November, the then 3-year-old pup was about to mark a full year at the MSPCA’s Boston adoption center. She was adopted within days of marking that anniversary, to the delight of the staff and volunteers who came to love the sweet and friendly dog. But on March 27 she was returned to shelter.
Brandy’s stay was one of the longest in MSPCA history.

“It’s highly unusual for a dog to be with us for a full year,” said Alyssa Krieger of the MSPCA adoption center at the time.
Brandy isn’t without her quirks: She’s selective of her dog friends, she’s still learning to share toys and food and, without medication she sometimes pees in the house. These issues have caused would-be adopters to pass her by.

Brandy was ultimately adopted on November 8, after 361 days in the adoption center, but a change in the pet policy at her new home forced her return.
The building management instituted a no pit bulls allowed policy, according to the MSPCA.
"Which as far as we can tell is now way in response to Brandy so much as it’s just part and parcel of the prevailing pit bull stereotype," said MSCPCA Spokesperson Alan Halpin.
So now, the fairy-tale ending that Brandy was happily ensconced in has led this puppy princess back to the adoption center —where she’s already spent hundreds of days. MSPCA staffers spent the last several weeks trying to line up a new home for Brandy but the leads fell through— and now the team is back on the hunt for an adopter.
The MSPCA describe Brandy as the ultimate “nap dog,” and would do well with an individual or family with teenagers. So long as she has daily walks or yard time and lots of relaxation and snuggle time with her person(s), she’s good to go, they said.
