Crowdfunding Campaign to Bring Vibrant New Lighting Program to JP
$5,000 goal to win matching grant through Boston Main Street Foundation's Matching Grant Program.
The Boston Main Streets Foundation and JP Centre/South Main Streets are seeking the public’s help to bring a vibrant new lighting display to the district’s main shopping area this holiday and year-round.
Jamaica Plain is one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the city, and for years, JP's Centre and South business corridor has wanted district-wide holiday decorations to reflect that spirit. A few dedicated businesses, organizations, and volunteers have decorated our district for years to welcome shoppers and visitors to our historic neighborhood but they need help. This year, JP Centre/South Main Streets, with the help of a grant from Boston Main Streets Foundation, is raising funds to create a holiday light show that will use projection mapping for a vibrant and dynamic holiday display right in the middle of our business district.
JP Centre/South is using the Patronicity crowdfunding platform to raise funds for this community program. If the campaign reaches its crowdfunding goal of $5,000 by 11:59pm on October 11th, the project will win a matching grant with funds from Boston Main Streets Foundation. “The holidays are a joyous time to reflect on the idea of community. Businesses and residents together can build that sense of place, especially because we have residents who care and prioritize shopping local and small. We have been searching for so long for the right way to showcase that to the rest of Boston,” said Ginger Brown, Executive Director of JP Centre/South Main Streets. “This lighting program will be the culmination of that community pride and love that makes Jamaica Plain such a great place to live and work.”
“Local businesses thrive when thoughtful investments like these encourage foot traffic and connect the commercial district to the spirit of the season,” said Joel Sklar, Chair of the Boston Main Streets Foundation. “We’re proud to support JP Centre/South Main Streets in this community-building effort and encourage everyone who loves Jamaica Plain to do the same.”
