UPDATE: Grant Headley Held on $1.5M Bail for Cop Shooting
The purported drug dealer allegedly shot Boston Officer Kurt Stokinger in the leg Friday

Grant Headley, the purported drug dealer who allegedly shot a Boston Police officer Friday, was held on $1.5 million bail during his arraignment Monday morning.
Headley was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court Monday on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and distribution of cocaine. He was held on $1 million bail for the shooting; $500,000 for the drug offenses.
The shooting happened in the Mount Bowdoin Terrace - Geneva Avenue area in the Dorchester neighborhood just before 10:30 a.m. The Mattapan Drug Unit approached a known suspect on the street, boxing in his car to stop him. As police were getting out of the car, the suspect, identified as Grant Headley, 27, of Dorchester, began to fire “unprovoked,” Police Commissioner Williams Evans said.

Officer Kurt Stokinger was struck in the leg. His fellow officers applied a tourniquet to slow the bleeding while others gave chase, tackling Headley and taking him into custody. The officer was rushed to Boston Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries. He was alert and conscious, Evans said during a press conference Friday, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Headley is next due in court for pre-trial hearings on Feb. 8.
