Historic Jamaica Plain Nursing Home Eyed for Condo Project

The Goddard House nursing home was built in 1927.

The Goddard House, a long-standing nursing home located on South Huntington Avenue in Jamaica Plain, is now being eyed for a new housing development.

Boston developers, Eden Properties LLC and Samuels & Associates, have filed plans to build a 169-unit residential condo complex, Boston.com reports.

Developers want to add to the five-story, 108-unit nursing home, which was built in 1927. Initial plans proposed to City Hall indicate changes that would add three stories to the structure. They also want to build 61 additional units next to the nursing home.

The Goddard House was closed in 2012. The brick structure would be transformed into a prime modern living space if plans are approved by the city.

Similar housing projects have been the subject of great opposition over the years.
