Jamaica Plan Porchfest: 5 Must-See Musical Acts

A look at five worthwhile musical acts who will playing at Saturday's Porchfest in Jamaica Plain.

Jamaica Plain will be hosting its second annual music, dance and theater festival known at Porchfest on Saturday. Thousands are expected to attend the event.

The festival will run from noon to 6 p.m.

125 bands are slated to perform on porches across the neighborhood. Many of the musical acts will be a great unknown to those in attendance, but a big part of the fun is discovering something new!

With that said, you will surely be overwhelmed when choosing who to jam out to.

Here are the five musical acts I encourage those in attendance to checkout:

Loose Change - A Boston band inspired by American rock, country and blues, including Chuck Berry and Bob Dylan.

They’ll be performing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 114 Sheridan Street.

Between Trees - A Boston band which has been rocking out across New England for three years. They play a mix of indie and folk with plenty of soulful melodies.

They’ll be performing at 44 Boylston Street from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rockmores - This band delivers a perfect mix of power-pop and post-punk feel. They’re sure to “get stuck in your head like a lollipop on a sweater,” according to the band.

They’ll be playing at 262 Lamartine Street from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Anna Robertson - She’s a singer and songwriter from Nashville and now lives in Boston. Her “music is folksy and at times ethereal, summoning images of mountains, winding rivers, and the occasional city skyline.” Robertson utilizes just her voice, guitar and a banjo.

Robertson will be playing at 26 Grovenor Road from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A Far Cry - They’re a grammy-nominated chamber orchestra who have been raved about by the New York Times, Boston Globe, Washington Post and more.

They’ll be performing at 1 Roanoke Avenue from 12 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
