Joslin Diabetes Center honors J.P. resident, M. Donna Younger, M.D.

Jamaica Plain resident M. Donna Younger, M.D. was awarded the Frank and Jean Ring Memorial Award in the Fight Against Diabetes at Joslin Diabetes Center’s 29th Evening at Pops event at Symphony Hall in Boston. Dr. Younger, who has been with Joslin for over fifty years, worked alongside Dr. Elliot P. Joslin early in her career, helping to introduce his approach to diabetes management to the wider medical community and eventually becoming Dr. Joslin’s primary care physician. Dr. Donald Barnett, the co-honoree at this year’s Pops event, has also been with Joslin Diabetes Center for more than fifty years.

The Evening at Pops event, attended by over 200 guests, included a pre-concert reception and award ceremony with a special appearance by Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart, followed by a presentation of Singin’ in the Rain: Film with Orchestra. This year’s event raised over $80,000, benefitting Joslin’s High Hopes Fund which directly supports vital diabetes clinical care programs and ground-breaking research initiatives at Joslin Diabetes Center.
