JP-Based 'Pineapple Diaries' Miniseries Returns
Season Two premiered Thursday, and continues tonight. Are you watching?

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — The Pineapple Diaries online miniseries is back, bringing Season Two of the JP-based show to YouTube.
The series has been described as a "Girls'-esque" slice-of-life comedy that is "one part sitcom, one part love letter to an entire community." It's filmed on-location in Jamaica Plain, where it follows the lives of three best friends and their eclectic next-door neighbor, as it casts a light on the lives of young Dominican-Americans in Boston.
The first episode of Season Two premiered last week, and this week's goes live tonight. The season's 25 episodes, in English with Spanish subtitles, will air on YouTube each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 p.m.

Local director and writer Paloma Valenzuela, of La Gringa Productions, said in a press release on the premier:
“I wanted to create a show that was funny and relatabl, that reflected my reality. I wanted to give Latina protagonists opportunities to tell our stories—that are also universal. The show is based in Boston, my hometown, and I wanted to profile the lives of Dominican-Americans in Boston—but with a colorful, tropical feel. The pineapple is a tropical fruit, of course, sold in abundance in the Dominican Republic; but also the name of a hairstyle that many women with curly or textured hair wear to keep their curls intact while they sleep; the main characters in the show have said hair, so it was a little play on words.”
