“And tweets with the word rape, bloody underwear and pretty much every other vulgar and defiling word you could likely fathom began to follow,” Schilling wrote on his blog 38 Pitches.

The three-time World Series Champion identified two of the offensive tweeters as New Jersey college students, displaying their tweets on his blog and explaining the potential consequences of their contributions.

Curt Schilling also noted that younger generations fail to realize that what they post on the web can follow them for the rest of their lives.

“This is a generation of kids who have grown up behind the monitor and keyboard,” he wrote. “The real world has consequences when you do and say things about others. We’re at a point now where you better be sure who you’re going after.”

And although Schilling apologized to his daughter for any potential embarrassment, she thanked him for his public display of support:

Schilling also posted links to stories about young people who committed suicide after being cyber-bullied.
