Report: Yoan Moncada to Red Sox in Record Deal

The Boston Red Sox have reportedly agreed to sign 19-year-old Cuban phenom Yoan Moncada, according to an MLB.com report.

The Boston Herald reported that the signing bonus is in the $31.5 million range for the infielder.

The agreement is pending a physical. Team officials have not yet confirmed the signing.

ESPN noted that Moncada batted .277 in two seasons with Cienfuegos in Cuba’s Serie Nacional before leaving the country last year with the permission of the Cuban government. He held a workout for a reported 70 to 100 MLB talent evaluators in Guatemala in November.
