Shooting At Jackson Square In JP, Crash: Police
Police confirm there was a shooting and a car crash related to a shooting in Jackson Square. Watch for road closures.
JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — The young woman who was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Jackson Square in Jamaica Plain is expected to survive, Boston Police Commissioner William Gross told reporters Tuesday night.
Gross said that no arrests have yet been made. He said the young woman taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in her upper body was "possibly" in her late teens.
“Once we find out, we’ll let you know,” he told reporters during a news conference in Jackson Square steps from the Jackson Square T stop.

Police said they recieved a call for a car crash at 3:12 p.m. near 265 Centre St., where the Mildred Hailey apartments are situated, just after the shooting.
First responders told dispatchers over the police radio earlier they were starting CPR on a teenage girl who was shot. It's unclear if others were injured. The homicide unit was called in to investigate. A gang unit was also called in, according to radio reports.

Police said a blue car was seen driving away after the shooting, and shortly after got into a crash at the intersection of Centre Street and Columbus Ave. Photos show the rear windshield shattered and the car appears to have rear ended another in the intersection.
Just before 5 p.m. police took a man away in handcuffs near the scene of the shooting but would not confirm if he was believed to be involved in the shooting, to reporters nearby.
Police shut down the intersection nearby during the investigation and as they searched for suspects. They diverted traffic at Hyde Square along Centre Street.
If you're headed anywhere near Jackson Square or Columbus Avenue at New Heath, police are asking that you stay away.
The MBTA station is still open, according to an MBTA spokesperson. But buses are being diverted. Green Line E service was suspended between Brigham Circle and Heath Street because of traffic backed up because of the road closures.
This comes less than a year after a double fatal shooting at the Mildred C Hailey (formerly known as the Bromley apartments).
This is a breaking news alert. More to come as it becomes available.
