Summer Hours Extended at Parks and Pools in Boston

Pools will stay open until 8 p.m. and parks until 10 p.m.

Massachusetts is extending summer hours at various parks and pools across the area, including state-run locations in Boston.

On some nights pools will stay open until 8 p.m. Some parks and basketball courts will remain open and lighted until 10 p.m., according to the The Department of Conservation and Recreation.

Governor Charlie Baker says the state hopes to encourage child to take part in an active, fun and safe summer by offering an increased opportunity to take part in recreational activity.

The extended hours will be available at 16 parks and pools in total across Boston, Chicopee, Everett, Malden, and Worcester. The extended hours will run from July 9 to August 14.
