Two Affordable Housing Sites Planned in Jamaica Plain

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced Tuesday $28 million has been allocated to create affordable housing throughout the city.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA - Residents in Jamaica Plain may have new neighbors, if two planned affordable housing locations come to the neighborhood.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced the initiative today, which has raised $28 million to fund affordable housing developments around the city. The funding comes from $21 million of federal and local resources awarded through the Department of Neighborhood Development and $7 million of Linkage funds, awarded through Boston's Neighborhood Housing Trust.

"We are committed to creating a Boston where everyone who wants to live here, can afford to," Mayor Walsh said in a press release. "I thank our local, state and federal partners for these housing investments that create good jobs and fuel our economy."
