Wake Up The Earth Is Coming To JP

What to know.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — It's spring and that means Wake Up The Earth festival is just around the corner. OK, you still have some time before the May event, but the folks at Spontaneous Celebrations are reaching out now to let folks know now's the time for vendors (everyone from local artists, organizations or restaurants) to reserve a space the annual event.

The Festival, hosted now by Spontaneous Celebrations, has its roots in the activism that JP is known for. It began in 1979 when a group of local neighbors and activists banded together to stop the Interstate 95 expansion into Jamaica Plain.

"The festival began as, and still is, a celebration of what can be accomplished when people of all traditions, cultures, ages, and beliefs come together," reads the SC website.
