"The first shots of the American Revolutionary War rang out in Lexington, Massachusetts, in 1775. More than 200 years later, this historical fight remains one of this city’s few violent incidents. Today, Lexington peacefully protects its residents with programs like the Lexington Emergency Assistance Fund, which offers financial support to Lexington citizens who have experienced crises. Looking out for every resident—in good times and in bad—in conjunction with low crime rates makes Lexington one of the Safest Cities in America."
