Lexington Looking For Members Of Semiquincentennial Commission

The 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington is coming up and the Select Board wants residents to be part of planning the celebration.

LEXINGTON, MA — The 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington is coming up and the Select Board wants residents to be part of planning the celebration.

The Select Board has established a Semiquincentennial Commission, or Lex250, and they are looking for members with varied knowledge and experience from all parts of the community. The anniversary is on April 19, 2025.

The Commission's role will be to “evaluate, make recommendations and coordinate the Town-wide activities to be held to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington.” The deadline to submit an application is March 5, 2021.

The commission will be made up of one member from each of the following boards or committees:

  • Select Board
  • Tourism Committee
  • Town Celebrations Committee

Along with representatives from each of the following groups:

  • Civic/Community Group Representative
  • 2 Community Members with a background or interest in history, event planning and or logistics
  • Local Museum or Historical Organization Representative
  • Lexington Public School Representative
  • Local Business Representative
  • Music & Arts Community Representative
  • Reenactment Community Representative
