Lexington Select Board Seeks Volunteers For Ad Hoc Stone Building Feasibility/Re-Use Committee

The Select Board is seeking 9 volunteers to serve on the Ad Hoc Stone Building Feasibility/Re-Use Committee.

Committee Goal

The Committee will research alternative uses for preservation of the Stone Building (735 Massachusetts Avenue); thereby supporting future Town investment to implement the preservation recommendations of the 2009 Historic Structures Report.

The Committee will submit a report to the Select Board on the feasbility of the proposed use.

Requirement for Membership

Residents or individuals working in Lexington who have background in or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Architect;
  • Museum professional, preferably with curator experience;
  • Representative of the Cary Memorial Library Trustees;
  • Representative from the Historical Commission;
  • Representative from the Historic Districts Commission;
  • Member of the Lexington arts community;
  • East Lexington resident;
  • Member of the business community;
  • Interest in tourism and economic development.

Length of Term

Upon completion and presentation of the report to the Select Board.

Time Commitment

As determined by the Committee.There will be a minimum of three meetings to solicit public comment, preceded by surveys, forums, social media or other forms of public input.

Application Deadline

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, resume and completed application form to SelectBoard@LexingtonMA.gov by September 11, 2020 for consideration.
