About Section 2 Emergency Program
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is working to address child care needs for vulnerable children and the children of families who are required to work to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of all Commonwealth citizens. Because of this, Governor Baker will be releasing an emergency order pertaining to child care.
Governor Baker will create a new category of child care centers called “Exempt Emergency Child Care.” These entities shall operate with written approval from EEC to provide critical child care services to families who work to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of all Commonwealth citizens. All other child care centers not approved as Exempt Emergency Child Care centers will be ordered to close before Monday, March 23.
