MassDOT Issues President's Day Travel Advisory
The three-day weekend traditionally leads to increased travel plans.
Presidents' Day weekend has traditionally been an opportunity for 9 to 5 workers to take a weekend getaway close to home, hopping in their cars and driving to their vacation spot of choice. With most COVID-19 travel restrictions in place and wintry weather on the horizon, this year might look different, but MassDOT still issued its Presidents' Day travel advisory.
MassDOT is reminding drivers to plan ahead and monitor roads before driving over the holiday weekend. The Registry of Motor Vehicles Customer Service Center locations will be closed on Monday due to the holiday and MBTA services will be effected as well.
Massachusetts still has COVID-19 related travel restrictions on almost all 50 states and a travel form and quarantine requirement for anyone traveling to restricted states. Effective Saturday, North Dakota and Puerto Rico were added to the short list of "low risk states and territories." This means people coming from those places don't have to fill out the travel form or comply with the 10-day quarantine requirement. Hawaii is the only other state on the "low risk" list.
