LEXINGTON, MA — A new Netflix series partially filmed in Lexington debuted on the streaming service Friday. "The Society" follows a group of teenagers in a fictional Connecticut town where all the adults have suddenly vanished.
At the start of the show, 200 high schoolers leave on a weekend trip, only to get turned around by a rock slide. They return to a town that looks like home, but the adults have mysteriously disappeared, there's no television or internet and the roads out lead to endless forest.
The 10-part series was primarily shot in Lancaster, Boston.com reported. The Town Hall, town green and surrounding area make up the fictional town of West Ham. The series also filmed in Ayer, Bolton, Carlisle, Concord, Devens, Grafton, Groton, Harvard and Sterling, according to the Massachusetts Film Office, which lists the show under its working title, "Hamelins."
