Obituary: Russell "Russ" Goodwin, Math Teacher at Lexington High School for 37 Years
He enjoyed working part-time at Henry's Market in North Beverly.

Russell “Russ” Goodwin, beloved husband of Margaret (Davison) Goodwin, died at home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
A life-long resident of Beverly, growing up in the Ryal Side section of the city, Russ was the son of the late Halstead and Alice (Smith) Goodwin. He attended Beverly schools, graduating from Beverly High School in 1960. Russ received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Salem State College and a second Master’s degree from the University of New Hampshire. He taught mathematics at Lexington High School for 37 years. After his retirement from teaching, Russ enjoyed working part-time at Henry’s Market in North Beverly.

Russ was an avid sports fan and for many years served as a coach for various youth sports programs in Beverly. In recent years he has delighted in watching his grandsons’ participation in such programs. During his retirement Russ especially enjoyed traveling with close friends and taking trips to New England casinos. Russ was a “people” person who made friends wherever he went. His warm smile and good humor endeared him to everyone who knew him. He will be sorely missed by all.
In addition to his wife of 48 years, he is survived by a daughter Jessica and her husband Rodney Genawese of Danvers, a son Jason Goodwin of Danvers, grandsons Brandon Genawese, and Michael and Nicholas Goodwin, all of Danvers. He is also survived by his brothers; David and his wife Henrietta of Wenham, Peter and his wife Karen of Danvers, his sisters Janice Utter and her husband Richard of Storm Lake Iowa, Constance Clay of Dover NH, and Carol Knowlton of Peabody, an uncle Robert Goodwin of Salem, his mother-in-law Constance Davison of Beverly, brothers-in-law John Davison and his wife Patricia of Ipswich, Frederick Davison of Beverly, Thomas Davison and his wife June of Beverly, Ronald Davison and his wife Susan of Beverly, Thomas Johnson of Wenham and a sister-in-law Pamela Davison of Hampton NH, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Ronald and Roger both of Denver Colorado and his sisters Rhoda Gould of Saugus and Judith Clay of Slatington Pennsylvania and his sister-in-law, Deborah Johnson of Wenham. Russ also leaves several dear and close friends who have been a great source of comfort to him during his illness.

Visiting hours will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly on Friday, January 9th from 4 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All other arrangements are private at Russ’ request.
