The fall semester of Lexington’s OWLL (Older, Wiser, Lifelong Learners) program is beginning, and most of the classes have started. There is one class that does not begin until the end of October and which still has some openings. The Entertainer and the Invincible Eagle: Scott Joplin and John Philip Sousa, American All Stars is a 6-session course on these two American composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their lives and music will be explored through recordings, film clips, musical scores, and live performances.
Margaret Ulmer, the instructor, has an extensive background in ragtime, regional American music, and the Great American Songbook . To read more about the instructor, and to see a detailed outline of the course, visit the Friends of the Council on Aging website, www/friendsofthecoa.org , where there is a link to the OWLL program.
The course, which starts on October 29, will be held at the Community Center on six Mondays, from 3:00 to 4:30. Information on registration is available on the OWLL webpage.
