Peter L. Richman, 88, of Lexington

Peter was the author of "The Insider's Guide to Growing a Small Business."

LEXINGTON, MA — Richman, Peter L., 88, of Lexington MA, died peacefully at his home on August 17, 2016.

Peter was born in New York City in 1927. He graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and from NYU with a Masters of Mathematics.

He was the author of The Insider’s Guide to Growing a Small Business. He also wrote many technical, professional articles as well as a number of humorous magazine pieces about the world of business. Peter was the co-founder of Rotek Instrument Corporation and the founder of KeyTek Instrument Corporation, two successful electronic equipment companies. He also held numerous patents for his own inventions.

Throughout his life, Peter was an accomplished photographer. Among his many other interests, he loved music and the arts, and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his daughter, Meredith (Spence) Turcotte of Gloucester, MA and Boston, her husband Richard; his son Jeremy Richman of Waltham, MA; and his three grandchildren: Rylan B. Spence of Boston MA, Danica Z. Spence of New York, New York, and Courtney A. Turcotte of West Warwick, Rhode Island. Peter’s wife, Vivian, predeceased him in 2006.

The family requests no flowers. For those who wish to make donations in Mr. Richman’s memory, contributions may be made to the (Lexington, MA) Cary Memorial Library Foundation for the Vivian Richman Fund. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Douglass Funeral Home, Lexington.
