Sept. 17 and 24: Halalisa Singers auditions

36-voice musical ensemble under the direction of Artistic Director Mary Cunningham seeks experienced singers in all voice parts

This fall, the chorus will be rehearsing music for concerts Jan. 12-13, featuring international selections in styles from folk to jazz to gospel. The program includes “Take the A Train,” “Come Fly With Me,” Walk Together, Children,” “Freedom Train,” “Guide My Feet,” “Bound for the Promised Land,” “Song for the Mira,” “Over the Sea to Skye,” “The Rocky Road to Dublin,” “Bionn Siulach Scealach,” “Ndiyende Nijirayi,” “Diu Diu Deng,” “I Am Flying,” “Adijo, Kerida,” “Somos El Barco” and “Geographical Fugue for Speaking Chorus.” The fall and spring sessions precede the choir’s tour of Ireland in May 2019. Open rehearsals/auditions take place Mondays, Sept. 17 and 24. Singers are asked to arrive at 7:15 p.m. and stay after rehearsal for a brief range check and audition.
