Yangtze River Successor Opening Soon In Lexington

Renovations to the decades-old storefront are reportedly about 90 percent done.

LEXINGTON, MA – Months after a decades-old Chinese restaurant in Lexington shut its doors, a new eatery is set to take its place. Yangtze River, which had operated out of 25 Depot Sq. since the mid-1970s, closed late last year.

At the time, it was reported that a new Chinese and Japanese restaurant called Sanyo was moving in. And it could arrive as soon as next month.

According to the Lexington Minuteman, renovations to the Depot Square space are about 90 percent complete, and the Sanyo team is shooting for a June opening date. The restaurant, owned by Bamboo and Mandarin owner Steven Wang, will feature many dishes from Bamboo's menu, as well as sushi, udon noodles, tempura and some Yangtze River classics.
