Injured Hiker Rescued From Lynnfield Woods

The rescue was tricky due to the icy and steep terrain in the area, officials said.

LYNNFIELD, MA — A hiker is recovering after being rescued from a trail in Lynnfield early Saturday morning. The hiker suffered a leg injury and had be rescued from the woods behind Lynnfield Commons.

The call came in to first responders around 3 a.m. for the rescue. Officials said the hiker was about a half mile into the woods but access to them was a challenge due to the terrain and the cold weather. Two other hikers were with the man who suffered the leg injury and helped direct first responders to his location, according to WHDH.

The Essex County Technical Rescue team was called in, since they were better equip to navigate the rocky and icy terrain. The tech rescue team members worked with the Lynnfield Fire and Police Departments and were able to rescue the hiker from the woods safely.

The outlet reported the man was in the woods for three to four hours.
