LYNNFIELD, Ma. - Lynnfield earned the No. 13 seed in the Division 3 North softball tournament. The MIAA released the softball pairings Tuesday.

The Pioneers will host St. Joseph's Prep on Friday in a preliminary-round contest.

There's plenty of reason for Lynnfield fans to be optimistic for a long tournament run. After facing St. Joseph's, the winner will face Madison Park in a first round game on Sunday. The winner of that game will face one of three teams in the lower bracket between O'Bryant, East Boston, and Ipswich. City teams, with the exception of Latin Academy, tend to struggle outside Boston and Lynnfield beat Ipswich, 12-0, this spring.
