Lynnfield Remembers On Memorial Day
A day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
From Marie Lagman, Director of Media Ministry, Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative:
LYNNFIELD - Although the skies were overcast and the grass was wet, Lynnfield's annual Memorial Day Parade forged on, bringing our community together to remember that this day is more than just the unofficial start of summer, but a day to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Bruce Siegel, Lynnfield's Veterans Services Officer, was a key organizer of the event and served as master of ceremonies. The Lynnfield High School band, led by Tom Westmoreland, played the national anthem and taps. Father Paul Ritt, Pastor of the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative, provided the invocation and benediction. Dick Dalton, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, was a featured speaker. Jemima Robins, Project 351 Representative, read Governor Baker's 2018 Memorial Day Proclamation. Lynnfield Middle School student Joshua Robbins read the Gettysburg Address, and LMS students Kaila George and Clara Caulfield read the Honor Roll. Veterans, first responders, and boy scouts all participated in the parade.

The event wrapped up in true American style with a cookout and ice cream on the Common. After all, it is the unofficial start of summer!
