The Lynnfield Tree Committee would like to thank all of the members of the community who participated in the 2020 Tree-O-Cache contest. During September and October of this year, the Tree Committee hid six boxes around town. Participants were tasked with locating the boxes using GPS coordinates only, similar to the popular activity known as geocaching.
Fifteen groups joined the event with over fifty people participating, many finding the locations of all six boxes. At every location, participants entered a note into a logbook and took a selfie with the hidden box. And every time a group found a hidden box, they were entered to win one of several prizes.

In late October, prizes were given out virtually by the Tree Committee Squirrel. You can watch the video on YouTube by searching for “Lynnfield Tree Committee.” The grand prize - a beautiful Sweet Bay Magnolia tree - was awarded to Lija Yang. Second and third prizes were awarded to the Billings family and the O’Connor family. All other participants won a Lynnfield Tree Committee pint glass, face mask, or had a donation made in their name to One Tree Planted or The Arbor Day Foundation, nonprofits that focus on reforestation.
