Markey Represents the Future of Lynnfield

Joe is up to the challenge. For this to be contained in a young man willing to devote many years to Lynnfield bodes well for the next gener

The Town of Lynnfield goes to the ballot box on April 9th. At that time we’ll be selecting a new Town Moderator. I am confident that Joe Markey will meet our expectations to lead this essential Town process beginning just a few weeks from now.

Joe’s the most qualified person seeking this office. He will provide us with open, responsible and engaging leadership enabling us to consider all possibilities and positively impact the prospects and progress of Lynnfield in response to the community’s wishes.

Since my time on the School Committee and during my tenure on the Board of Selectmen, I have come to know Joe very well. He takes great pride in the accomplishments of the Lynnfield Housing Commission, helping to bring significant funds to Lynnfield to undertake improvements needed in its housing.

As a lifelong resident of Lynnfield and educated in our schools, he understands and represents our community values and what we expect from our public officials. His involvement is motivated by a commitment to volunteerism and public service that he learned from the fine leadership models in Lynnfield just like I did. This is the overarching requirement for our Town Moderator and this is what Joe brings to each public role he has filled.

Joe graduates from law school this year and while there gained valuable experience as a rule 3:03 Prosecutor appearing in Newton District Court. He is extremely well prepared to continue the tradition of outstanding Town Moderators in Lynnfield. I am certain that Joe will work very well with my fellow Selectmen now and in the future.

Joe’s qualifications and experience create a strong foundation to lead our Town Meetings. He will keep the meeting focused and will allow all sides to be fairly represented and heard so the Town can make the right decisions. It’s a rare skill to be able to do this and Joe is up to the challenge. For this to be contained in a young man willing to devote many years to Lynnfield bodes well for the next generation in our top Town leadership.

Knowing Joe Markey, I am confident that our town meeting will continue to be in good hands. Please join me in voting on April 9th to make Joe Markey our next moderator.

Respectfully,

Chris Barrett
Selectman and Former Chair Lynnfield Board of Selectmen
