Markey's committed to maintaining our trust in Town Meeting

"Markey for Lynnfield Moderator" is not just a slogan – it's a promise of fair, open, impartial, and effective governance.

To the Editor:

Our friend Joe Markey is running to become Lynnfield’s next Town Moderator. Joe represents the best of citizenship. He cares deeply about our collective well-being and will lead our Town forward with a clear vision of what we can achieve. Joe has consistently dedicated a great deal of his time to volunteering in this community, even while finishing law school in recent years.

I know what we will get if Joe is elected Moderator – he will be an efficient, even-handed Moderator allowing a thoughtful dialogue with a bit of technology for more transparency. He will ensure that Town Meeting keeps up with modern times and follows applicable best practices.

A proud Lynnfield native, Joe began his elected service to the Town as a hard-working Chairman of our Housing Commission, and in my experience has never missed an opportunity to serve our community since. For the last five years, Joe has earned our respect. He has thoughtfully implemented a procedure to improve public participation in our senior housing development. He’s worked with me on issues facing the Planning Board, and he has come before the Planning Board to advocate for implementation of veterans housing initiatives.

As Moderator, Joe plans to appoint a diverse Finance Committee, implement innovative procedures for Town Meeting, and continually reach out to the community to learn what is on our minds. Without a doubt, “Markey for Moderator” is not just a slogan – it’s a promise of fair, open, impartial, and effective governance. Therefore, I hope you will join me in going to the polls on April 9 to vote for Joe Markey, a true professional who is committed to maintaining our trust in government and making a difference for our Town.
