Dear Neighbors,

I am running for Town Moderator in the April 9, 2019, town election. I want to continue the service I began as an elected Housing Commissioner in 2014. I’m in this for Lynnfield.

Growing up in Lynnfield, my parents always told me where there’s a will there’s a way. I heard that a lot over the years. I even heard myself saying that last month when I decided to be a candidate.

On every issue, input from all stakeholders will be encouraged towards continuing sound town management combined with and driven by community participation. Furthermore, I pledge to expand and advertise free child care services so parents can participate in Town Meeting.

As a former Rule 3:03 Prosecutor, I know how to present the facts in an unbiased manner and understand how important it is for all voices to be heard at Town Meeting. Town Meeting will be led in a fair and firm manner using Robert’s Rules of Order. I will be a neutral Moderator, not an advocate. Everyone must be heard.

The greatest achievements don’t come from independence but from shared conviction and love of community. What matters most is preserving our democracy through a fair, open and efficient town meeting, and on that strength our town can thrive.

I am a member of Lynnfield Rotary where our motto is "Service above self." I promise to stand by that motto and deliver the leadership our community deserves.

Working together, let's achieve an even better local government and move Lynnfield forward. I ask for your support and vote on April 9th.

Sincerely,

Joseph A. Markey
