A recent study of home value trends over a 25-year period between 1994 and 2018, produced some surprising results about the nation’s housing markets.
- The top three housing markets are Boulder, Colorado; Midland, Texas; and Austin – Round Rock – Midland, Texas.
- San Francisco, San Mateo, and Redwood City California tie for the greatest home price growth of 375% over the period studied.
- Of 25 stable growth markets studied, more than 70% saw no value decline of more than five percent.

Round Rock, Texas is included in the 2019 list of best cities to live the American dream. Austin shows zero chance of even a 5% value loss over 10 years. Additionally, the area enjoyed a 242% growth in home values.
Midland, TX

Midland is among the top rising housing markets in the U.S. Home values in the area have grown by 256%. Midland is also a stable value market like it’s other neighbors on the list, making Texas an attractive choice for home buyers looking for a stable regional housing market.
Boulder, CO
For the last five years, Boulder has been the leader in stability and growth in home prices. The area growth rate is 268% for the period of 1994 to 2018. As a bonus, the Boulder area continues to offer career opportunities that make the housing market even more attractive for job seekers.

Some of the other cities in the top 10 best housing markets include Bismarck, ND; Cheyenne, WY; Fort Collins, CO; Denver, CO including Aurora and Lakewood; Houston, TX including The Woodlands and Sugar Land; San Francisco, CA including San Mateo and Redwood; and San Jose, CA including Santa Clara and Sunnyvale.
