Needham Is Looking For Winter Shovelers
Snow removal assistants will help shovel and blow snow from Town walkways, driveways and parking lots and other property.
NEEDHAM, MA — Ahead of winter, Needham is putting out a call for qualified people to help the town with snow removal during the upcoming winter season.
The shovelers may be needed sooner than expected as two winter storm systems are heading to Massachusetts, with the second, larger storm set to arrive mid-week.
Snow removal assistants will help shovel and blow snow from town walkways, driveways and parking lots and other property, supplementing the work of Department of Public Works staff. The positions are part-time, up to 40 hours, and are weather dependent.

“Quick and efficient snow removal during winter storms is critical to keeping the public safe, schools open and businesses operational,” said Interim DPW Director Carys Lustig. “Having additional help this season will be particularly helpful in keeping kids in the classroom.”
To be considered for the position, applicants must have:

· Ability to arrive at work safely, reliably within 1 hour of being called
· Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, and frequently walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
· Ability to withstand frequent and extended periods of outside work, including in extreme weather conditions such as low temperatures, ice, snow, rain
· A history of being punctual, dependable and professional
· Provide their own transportation
· Must be at least 18 years old
