On the afternoon of May 19, 2018 between 2:00 and 3:00 my brother, my niece and her fiancé (Malden residents) were traveling on Walnut Street in Lynnfield, MA when my brother, the driver, experienced a cardiac arrest. Thankfully, his future son-in-law was in the front seat and was able to steer the car to the side of the road to avoid further tragedy. A vehicle behind them stopped when they realized that something had happened. The two occupants of the second vehicle (who happened to be RNs) and my niece’s fiancé were able to immediately start CPR, while my niece placed a call to 911. We have been trying to find out who the two nurses were so we can extend our thanks to them, but no one seems to have gotten their names. My brother contacted Lynnfield Police and Fire Department and thanked them, but they had no names for the two guardian angels who stopped that day. My niece and her fiancé remember the two women saying that was not usually the route they took, but because of a lot of congestion on Rte 1 on that Saturday afternoon they opted to travel Walnut Street. If ever the stars were aligned in anyone’s favor it was that afternoon for my brother. He was transported to Lynn Union for stabilization and then transferred to Salem Hospital where he received extraordinary cardiac care and was eventually sent home to recuperate thanks to some Good Samaritans on the road and the excellent care of the medical staff at Lynn Union and Salem Hospitals. So, please if anyone recognizes this event and knows the nurses involved, pass this little notice along. We are forever grateful.
