Weston's Snow-Covered Rail Trail Offers Winter Activities
The snowy path not be ideal for biking but it does make the perfect path for snowshoeing and skiing.
WESTON, MA — Weston's Rail Trail has been transformed into a winter wonderland after the heavy snowfall covered the pathway. While it's not the ideal condition for bikers, it does make way for winter activities. The town is encouraging residents to take advantage of the conditions in the proper way.
The town purposely did not plow the pathway to leave the activities open. Officials said snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are perfect activities for the conditions while using the proper etiquette, the town said.
- Some of the tips to keep in mind include:
- Don't walk or snowshoe or bike on ski tracks,
- Yield to the faster skier,
- Fix your divot if you fall (so others don't fall, too),
- Don't posthole (walk in deep snow without snowshoes) because it can create a dangerous track for others
