What's It Going To Be Lynnfield, Yes Or No On Rail Trail?
Special Town Meeting Thursday at Middle School with just one question on agenda.

LYNNFIELD, Ma. - Maybe the phrase "warn the inhabitants" is a little strong.
The warrant for Thursday's Special Town Meeting has wording that goes back decades, including that ominous warning. But the words that matter most involve a simple question. Do Lynnfield residents want a rail trail or not.
Thursday at 7 p.m., residents will gather at the Lynnfield Middle School to vote on whether to spend $348,000 for Lynnfield's share of the final design of the Wakefield-Lynnfield Rail Trail. The last time this subject was at Town Meeting the vote was stunningly close, with supporters eking out a 342-341 win in 2017. Since then there have been strong opinions on both sides. Reedy Meadow will be harmed. Reedy Meadow won't be harmed. It's a waste of money. It's a great use of town money.

But Thursday night the biggest question could revolve around the turnout. Which side is going to get its supporters to turn out and fill the middle school auditorium, cafeteria and gymnasium? With just the one article, it shouldn't last long.
If you haven't made up your mind yet, you can find the wording for Article 1 here. The residents against the rail trail have a website. The trail supporters do as well. Doors open at 6 p.m.
