3 GoFundMe Pages Set Up After Mansfield Gas Station Explosion

A GoFundMe page was set up for a Mansfield gas station worker who's fighting for his life following an explosion at work.

MANSFIELD, MA — The community is rallying around a gas station worker who suffered life-threatening injuries in Wednesday's explosion at Cannan Fuels. Residents have also shown support for the owner of the gas station and the other employees who will be out of work because of the damage the fire caused. Three GoFundMe pages have been set up for victim Ron Stanovitch, the store owner and his employees.

The explosion started in a service bay when vapors from 55 gallons of windshield washer fluid ignited while an employee was using a welding torch, according to the state Fire Marshal's office. Witnesses told the Sun Chronicle the explosion set a truck on fire and spread throughout the rest of the station.

Stanovitch was inside the bay at the time of the explosion and suffered serious burns, according to a GoFundMe page set up by his friends and family. He was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and suffered burns on 70 percent of his body.

As of Friday morning, the GoFund Me Page for Stanovitch has raised $14,039 of its $15,000 goal.

"Ronald is at Mass Hospital now fighting for his life," Manal Nazzal wrote on the page. "It's going to be a tough and long fight for him and his family. So keep him in your prayers and any contribution will help his family during this hardship."

GoFundMe pages for the owner and employees were also set up. The page for the ownerhas raised $2,015 as of Friday morning. The page for the employees has raised $530 so far.
