Coronavirus: Mansfield Has 12 Positive Cases, 35 Under Monitoring

MANSFIELD, MA — Mansfield has confirmed 12 cases of coronavirus in town as of town. Health officials also announced that as of Tuesday there were 35 patients under monitoring and one recovery.

The Mansfield Town Manager has established a COVID-19 Task Force where the central goal and mission is to provide a balance in which the Town can continue to provide essential services to the public, while trying to prevent and mitigate the spread of the virus. The task force is comprised of Town Manager Kevin Dumas, Assistant Town Manager Barry LaCasse, Fire Chief Justin Desrosiers, Chief of Police Ron Sellon, Health Agent Amy Donovan-Palmer, School Director of Health Services Christine Dooling, Superintendent of Schools Teresa Murphy, and Director
of Human Resources Jocelyn LeMaire.

More than half of the 122 Massachusetts residents who have died from the coronavirus succumbed in the past two days, as state health officials reported 33 new deaths for the second straight day Wednesday. For the first time, a person under 50 died due to complications related to COVID-19. The Suffolk County man, in his 30s, had preexisting conditions.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health also reported 1,118 new cases, bringing the total to 7,738. Even as testing expands — more than 51,000 have been administered, DPH said Wednesday afternoon — the true totals are thought to be significantly higher.
