Coronavirus: Mansfield Issues Tips For A Warm Weather Weekend

While residents are encouraged to get some sunshine and exercise during a warm weekend, they are urged to do so in a social responsible way.

MANSFIELD, MA — While Mansfield residents are encouraged to get outside and enjoy some sun and exercise during this weekend as temperatures soar into the 70s, they are urged to do so while adhering to strict social distance measures with the state's stay-at-home order still in place.

Those in public are asked to stay at least 6 feet away from others not in your household both outdoors and indoors at stores and other business, commercial or multi-unit residential buildings. Residents are asked to carry a cloth face covering at all times so one can be quickly put in place in situations where they move inside or that 6 feet of space cannot be maintained.

  • If you are walking on the sidewalk and see somebody up ahead, cross the street when it is safe.
  • Avoid crowded areas, such as conservation areas or more densely populated sections of town.
  • Walk, run or bike during less popular times. If you think you are going to see others, bring a face covering or mask with you to put on.
  • NO TEAM SPORTS. Being active may cause additional virus particles to be expelled and sports such as basketball, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, football, rugby, and so many others do not allow for the necessary space between players to prevent possible contamination.

There are many more asymptomatic people than originally thought and people may be contagious up to two days before showing symptoms. Even if you feel fine, you may still be a carrier and you must take precautions to not spread the virus to others.
