Easton Man Charged In Mansfield CVS Robbery At Gunpoint

Mansfield police said Matthew Sarnowitz was found shirtless and shoeless early Sunday morning after a four-hour search.

MANSFIELD, MA — An Easton man suspected of robbing the Chauncy Street CVS at gunpoint about midnight Saturday night was charged with armed robbery after Mansfield police said he was found not wearing a shirt or shoes in the nearby woods following a search near the CVS about four hours after the robbery.

Police said Matthew Sarnowitz, of Easton, was charged with armed robbery and related charges. Police said video surveillance showed a white man pulling a gun on the clerk and that he then fled into the woods. Massachusetts State Police, Metropolitan Law Enforcement, crisis negotiators and K9 units were called into to conduct the search in the woods around Chauncy Street, Copeland Drive and Route 140.

Police said the suspect emerged from the woods about 4:10 a.m. having apparently discarded his shirt and shoes. A search of the woods after he was taken into custody discovered the clothing, along with money and other items.
