GATRA Bus Fares Increasing

Bus rates are going up for the first time in 15 years.

TAUNTON, MA — Most bus fares in the Attleboro-Taunton area are increasing by 50 percent, the Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) announced on Monday evening.

Starting on Feb. 4, GATRA's fares will increase for all buses, affecting commuters in 28 communities, including Taunton, Attleboro, Mansfield, Foxboro, Norton, Seekonk and many more. Compare the new rates to the previous rates in the chart below:

“GATRA has not raised fares in 15 years," GATRA administrator Francis Gay said in a press release," We believe our riders realize because of cost increases in all areas of GATRA’s operations, an increase in fares is inevitable.”

According to Gay, GAFTRA needed to bring its fares closer to similar public transit systems in the region. Similar full fares are below:
