Man Allegedly Attacks Another Man With Hammer
James E. Smalley of Foxboro has been charged for attacking an Easton Man with a hammer at a Mansfield bar.

Mansfield Police say an angry Foxboro man struck a man in the head with the claw side of a hammer at a downtown bar before other patrons intervened, according to the Sun Chronicle.Â
James E. Smally, 45, allegedly assaulted the 28-year-old Easton man after becoming jealous that his wife was talking to him. Smalley also allegedly pushed his wife off a stool, giving her red marks on her neck. He pleaded innocent in Attleboro District Court to assault with intent to murder, domestic assault and battery, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.Â
Prosecutor Erin Aiello said Smalley admitted to hitting the victim with the hammer when questioned by police. He was ordered held on $3,000 cash or $30,000 surety and is due back in court on Dec. 24. He was warned to stay away from his wife and the man during the case. Â
