Mansfield High Grad Honored By White House

Joe McKenna, Mansfield High Class of 2007, was honored by the White House as a "Champion of Change."

The White House has named named Mansfield High School Alum Joe McKenna as a "champion of change for community preparedness and resilience," according to a statement from the University of Texas.

McKenna, a research specialist at the university and a 2007 Mansfield High grad, was selected for his work as a Youth Preparedness Camp Coordinator for the Texas School Safety Center at Texas State, which provides the opportunity to youth across Texas to be trained in emergency preparedness, emergency response, action planning, leadership, and community resilience. 

The Champions of Change Program, which was created to for the White House to feature individuals and businesses doing things to inspire and empower members of their community, honored McKenna in a private ceremony on September 24.
