Mansfield Hires New Veterans Service Agent

Michael Raymond was approved by the selectmen as the town's new Veterans Service Agent.

MANSFIELD, MA - A Gulf War veteran is now responsible for assisting his fellow veterans in Mansfield.

Michael Raymond was approved by the selectmen as the town's new Veterans Service Agent Wednesday. He replaces Heath Hobson, who recently left the position.

Prior to the board's vote, Raymond was interviewed by Town Manager Bill Ross.

Currently, Raymond is a national aide to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is also one of 50 nominees for the organization's serviceman of the year award.

"You have an impressive background and we’re lucky to have someone of your caliber here," Selectman Olivier Kozlowski said.

Raymond lives in Boston but said he is looking to move to Mansfield or a nearby community.

Raymond starts his new job on April 25.
